The French and consumer credit, a relationship that works well. Borrowing rates are at the lowest for a few years, on mortgage and also consumer credit. So what are our habits when it comes to consumer credit? A 2018 survey by CSA for Astro Finance tells us more about the key figures for consumer credit in France.
French habits with consumer credit
Consumer credit refers to any loan over $ 200 and / or repaid in more than 90 days. All types of loans fall into the family of consumer credit (personal credit, car loan, work credit, revolving credit), with the exception of loans for housing (immo). What can we learn from the study published by Astro Finance, one of the most prominent online consumer credit organizations on the market? Back to the key figures of the study.
More than one in two French people have already taken out consumer credit
53% of French people have already taken out consumer credit. Among the 47% who have never used a consumer loan, a very large majority (44%) simply never needed it. The remaining 3% indicated a wish not to go into debt.
The APR rate, a closely monitored indicator
The rate of consumer credit is the main criterion on which the French rely to make their decision. 46% of respondents indicate that the APR rate (what is it?) Is the real decisive criterion. They want to pay less and they are right. Our credit comparator has just emerged to offer the best APR rates of the moment, on all projects. Directly linked to organizations, our tool even takes care of providing a first response in principle at the best rate (without obligation).
Rather online or agency credit?
The majority (51%) of French people still prefer to subscribe through an agency. We do know, however, that online credit organizations generally offer the best rates, and never charge an application fee.
What projects motivate French people to request a loan?
The purchase of a new car (52%) motivates the majority of credit applications. The French then invoke unforeseen expenses (20%), an appliance purchase (14%), the preparation of vacations (5%) or of a wedding (5%).
